Compare the payment processors and payment providers supported by Double, including available payment methods, currencies, donation frequencies, eligibility, and pricing.

Double supports multiple payment processors and specialized payment providers. The right setup depends on your organization’s location, the currencies you accept, and the payment methods you want to offer donors.

In some cases, multiple providers can be connected simultaneously, allowing each payment method to be processed through the provider best suited for it.

Organizations officially recognized as 501(c)(3) nonprofits may qualify for discounted pricing of 2.2% + $0.30 per transaction.

Organizations with significant processing volume can also contact Stripe directly to discuss custom pricing.

PayPal

PayPal can be offered as an additional payment option for donors who prefer to donate using their PayPal account.

Double currently supports PayPal for one-time donations only. Support for recurring PayPal donations is planned for a future release.

Supported currencies

PayPal payments through Double are currently supported in US dollars only. Support for additional currencies is planned.

Donation frequencies

PayPal currently supports one-time donations only. Recurring donation support is coming soon.

Pricing

The standard PayPal processing fee is 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction.

Eligible 501(c)(3) organizations may qualify for discounted nonprofit pricing by contacting PayPal directly.

Sola

Sola, formerly known as Cardknox, is a US payment processor that can be used by organizations looking for an alternative to Stripe.

It also allows organizations to accept Charity Cards - a card-based method for making donations from donor-advised funds.

Supported payment methods

  • Credit and debit cards

  • ACH bank payments

  • Charity Cards

Unlike Stripe’s ACH integration, Sola ACH payments are not confirmed immediately. Final confirmation may take several business days.

Supported currencies

Sola supports donations in US dollars only.

Donation frequencies

Sola supports one-time donations and recurring donations on the following frequencies:

  • Daily

  • Weekly

  • Monthly

  • Annually

Charity Cards and recurring DAF donations

Sola’s Charity Card integration supports both one-time and recurring donations from card-based donor-advised funds.

This option is limited to DAF providers that issue payment cards, including:

  • OJC

  • The Donors Fund

  • Matbia

  • Pledger

Traditional DAF accounts that do not provide a payment card can be used through Chariot for one-time donations.

Pricing

Sola’s standard processing fee is typically 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction.

Organizations may contact Sola directly to negotiate custom pricing based on their processing volume.

Sola does not charge a processing fee for donations made using Charity Cards. These donations are subject only to Double’s applicable platform fee.

Using Stripe and Sola together

Organizations do not need to choose between Stripe and Sola.

Double allows Stripe and Sola to be connected simultaneously. Standard card and wallet payments can be processed through Stripe, while Charity Card donations are processed through Sola.

This setup is recommended for organizations that want Stripe’s broader payment support and comprehensive Double integration while also allowing donors to give using Charity Cards.

Chariot

Chariot is a specialized donor-advised fund payment provider rather than a traditional card processor.

Through Chariot, donors can connect to their donor-advised fund and submit a donation directly from their DAF account. This provides a faster and more convenient experience than manually requesting and processing a DAF grant.

Chariot is generally used alongside an organization’s primary payment processor. It does not replace Stripe, PayPal, or Sola for standard card and wallet payments.

Donation frequencies

Double currently supports Chariot for one-time DAF donations only.

Recurring DAF donations are not supported through Chariot due to the complexity of tracking and reconciling recurring DAF grants.

Organizations that need recurring DAF donations can use Sola’s Charity Card integration instead. However, this option is available only for card-based DAF providers, such as OJC, The Donors Fund, Matbia, and Pledger.

Pricing

Chariot’s standard fee is 2.9% per donation.

Chariot also offers additional plans for organizations that need complementary DAF fundraising, reporting, or operational tools. Additional plan information is available directly on the Chariot website.

Grow

Grow is an Israeli payment processor intended for organizations processing donations through an entity registered in Israel.

It is particularly useful for organizations that have an Israeli entity or work with an Israeli fiscal sponsor and want to process donations in Israeli new shekels.

Where the connected Israeli entity has the required tax recognition, donors may also receive an eligible Israeli tax receipt.

Supported payment methods

  • Credit and debit cards

  • Bit

Supported currencies

Grow supports donations in Israeli new shekels only.

Donation frequencies

Grow supports both one-time donations and monthly recurring donations. Other recurring frequencies are not currently supported.

Pricing

Grow’s pricing starts at 0.6% per transaction, plus ₪59 per month.

Small additional fees may apply to Bit payments, transactions above certain amounts, or accounts that exceed certain monthly transaction thresholds.

Because Grow’s rates, thresholds, and additional fees may change, organizations should visit the Grow website or contact Grow directly for the most accurate and up-to-date pricing information.

Important considerations

Grow is primarily designed for Israeli donors. Donors outside Israel may experience difficulty completing a payment because the payment flow generally requires an Israeli identification number.

Which provider should you choose?

For most organizations, Stripe is the recommended primary processor because it provides the widest payment method support and the most comprehensive integration with Double.

Consider using:

  • Stripe as your primary processor for cards, digital wallets, and US bank payments.

  • PayPal to offer an additional, familiar payment option to PayPal users.

  • Sola if your organization prefers not to use Stripe.

  • Stripe and Sola together if you want to accept Charity Cards while continuing to process standard payments through Stripe.

  • Sola if you need recurring donations from card-based DAF providers such as OJC, The Donors Fund, Matbia, or Pledger.

  • Chariot if you want to accept one-time donations directly from traditional DAF accounts.

  • Grow when processing one-time or monthly Israeli-shekel donations through an Israeli entity.

Payment providers can complement one another. For example, an organization may use Stripe as its primary processor while also offering PayPal, Chariot, and Sola Charity Cards as additional ways to donate.

Processing fee disclaimer

The fees listed in this article are standard or starting rates and are separate from Double’s applicable platform fees.

Actual processing fees may vary based on the organization’s agreement, transaction volume, payment method, donor location, and currency conversion. Contact the relevant payment provider directly to confirm eligibility and final pricing.
